About My Art

"Miami Majesty" Series

"Miami Majesty" is a stunning contemporary art collection that skillfully combines minimalist aesthetics with a satirical undertone to highlight the stark social disparities prevalent in Miami. Focusing on opulent symbols of wealth such as yachts, pools, and mansions, this thought-provoking series serves as a playful critique of the extravagant and exclusive lifestyles of the wealthy, while highlighting the glaring differences with the less privileged. With an emphasis on stylized representations of prestigious objects from a unique perspective, characterized by geometric shapes and a limited color palette, primarily consisting of blues, whites, and occasionally hints of other colors, the artworks evoke tranquility and sometimes dynamism simultaneously.

This aesthetic is reminiscent of the vast ocean that inspired the artist. The influence of Andy Warhol's ideology on the artist's work is evident in the way they view objects, whether they are natural elements like the ocean or commercial products like a Coca-Cola.

Warhol, a prominent figure in the Pop Art movement, believed in democratizing art and making it accessible to everyone. He often used everyday objects and popular culture icons in his art to challenge traditional notions of high art. Similarly, the artist behind "Miami Majesty" draws inspiration from Warhol's perspective and applies it to the concept of the ocean, perceiving it as a ubiquitous object available to all.

Just as Warhol transformed consumer products like the Coca-Cola bottle into iconic symbols, the artist of "Miami Majesty" takes opulent symbols of wealth, such as yachts, pools, and mansions, and transforms them into minimalist yet powerful representations. This creative approach allows the artist to comment on the stark social disparities in Miami, where luxury is both commonly available and an exclusive privilege, depending on one's perspective.

The limited color palette in the artworks, primarily consisting of blues and whites, captures the essence of the ocean while symbolizing tranquility. The occasional hints of other colors add dynamism and depth to the pieces, mirroring the ever-changing nature of Miami's social landscape. Through these stylistic choices, the artist skillfully conveys the dual nature of Miami as a city where the allure of luxury coexists with the harsh realities of inequality, much like the ocean itself, which can be both serene and tempestuous. "Miami Majesty" is a thought-provoking exploration of this juxtaposition, inviting viewers to contemplate the complex interplay of wealth and poverty in the city's landscape.

"Between the lines" Series

In the series "between the lines" I deal with the fusion of nature and spirit. Watercolor as the dominant medium gives me more freedom in the representation of this symbiosis and provokes an emotional engagement with the subject matter. The reference to abstract expressionism is a deliberate characteristic of this series. The use of the dripping technique and the complete abandonment of the use of brushstroke provides me with a high degree of freedom to transfer the flow of thought to the medium. I believe that this technique in particular allows for the visual expression of the confluence of dream and reality, which is as unique and unreproducible as the human individual who is the focus of the series.

Untypical for watercolor is the chosen large format of my images, which I use to prove that watercolor is not only suitable for smaller illustrations. By means of very rapid movements by tilting the image I control the flow of the watercolor and thereby create a unique piece that cannot be repeated.

Inspired by artists like Jackson Pollock and Yves Klein, who managed the projection of movement onto the medium while abandoning brushes, I see parallels to my watercolor paintings. When looking at the images of Pollock, which he created on huge canvases by means of dripping - technique I feel emotion, passion and dynamism, which happens exclusively when viewing live images.

The series "between the lines" explores the properties of the dream and the existence of human nature. The element of water symbolizes the infinity of human thought and reality, the element of clouds represents the dream. With my art I try to stimulate a mental process in the viewer: reflection on human existence in dream and reality.

The coexistence of matter and spirit, therefore "between the lines", makes the whole appear as a paradoxical dialogue. I paint colorfully and slowly reduce the colors. Paintings by Gerhard Richter are another source of inspiration, which are equally readable from top to bottom and from bottom to top and have a completed composition.

Furthermore, the medium of clouds used in my works has a connection to my childhood. I always feel an immense attraction of sky and associate this phenomenon with dreams and serenity.

As a child I spent a lot of time in nature and admired the beauty and infinite expanse of the sky, which later became the trigger for this series in conjunction with water. My strong connection to nature intensified during this period of my life in Miami and is now reflected in my works.

While living on the Baltic Sea and now again on the Atlantic coast of Miami, I developed a personal connection to water in addition to my attraction to the sky.

I portray the ocean and life in Florida as pure "luxury of life", at the same time this luxury is like Campbell's soup accessible to everyone, regardless of social status.
